Start Your Own Record Label: A Seminar for New Businesses & DIY Musicians
Ultimake Fake Records are running a seminar, over multiple dates, aimed at those considering starting a record label or looking to self-release their own material.
Further information taken from www.ultimatefake.co.uk is below.
This seminar isn't about discussing the future of the music industry or finding the 'next big thing'. It's about learning practical skills and knowledge to give you the best chance of success. The structure of the music industry - What do record companies, publishers and managers actually do?
Copyright - What a label needs to know to stay legal and protect its interests
Contracts - Recording contracts, 360 deals, licensing deals, band agreements, publishing contracts, key clauses to look out for
Collection societies - The role of PPL, PRS for Music, MCPS, and why you need ISRCs
Releasing a record - CD replication, physical and digital distribution, promo videos, promotional strategies, ensuring chart eligibility
Managing your team - Working with photographers, designers, session musicians and other freelancers
When:
Tuesday 10th April from 6-8 PM
